Hiring a cleaner

Office Cleaning Walkthrough Checklist

Use this walkthrough checklist to show a cleaner which rooms, tasks, and access details to include in your office cleaning quote.

Start with a room list

Walk the same route your cleaner would take. List reception, work areas, conference rooms, bathrooms, break rooms, and any shared space you’re responsible for. Next to each room, write one thing you want addressed and anything that should be left in place.

Mark what needs attention each visit

  • Reception and meeting rooms. Flag fingerprints on entry glass, crumbs around meeting tables, or furniture that needs to be put back after cleaning.
  • Workstations. Agree on how much of the desk to clean and which documents, screens, and equipment to leave alone.
  • Bathrooms and kitchenettes. Count fixtures and bins. Decide who supplies soap, towels, and liners and who should be told when stock runs low.
  • Floors. Note where carpet changes to hard flooring and flag any care instructions from building management.

End at the door

Review the cleaning window, which rooms can be accessed during that window, and where trash should go. Choose a contact for access issues or schedule changes. Save the agreed checklist so you have something concrete to review after the first visit.
